Why can’t I login?

Modified on Thu, 18 Jun at 3:18 PM

When accessing our online learning platforms, please double-check that:

  • you are on the correct platform and
  • you are using the email address that was registered on the platform (must be entered in lowercase), and
  • you are correctly entering your password with no additional spaces on either side.

Depending on which online learning platform you are trying to access, you will experience a set number of failed login attempts before your account is briefly locked out. This process has been put in place to prevent security threats.

Once the account is unlocked or the lockout period ends, you should be able to try your login details again.

Additional information for the RCUK Learning Management System (LMS)

This platform uses 2-factor authentication:

  1. Login details: enter your registered email address (in lowercase) and password
  2. MFA (multi-factor authentication) verification: enter the code sent to your registered email. The code is valid for 60 minutes from when it was issued and can only be used once.

Failed attempts:

  • After 5 failed login attempts, the system will briefly lock the account.
    • If the email you entered is registered on the platform, you will receive an email containing a time-limited link to unlock the account.
    • If the email cannot be located, please check your junk or spam folder.
    • If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it on the RCUK LMS login page: “I have forgotten my password.”
    • If you no longer have access to that email address, please contact RCUK.

  • After 5 failed MFA attempts, your account will be locked and can only be unlocked by the RCUK team.
